Aged Dependent, Remaining and Carer Relatives Australian immigration for family members other than parents and children may be possible for individuals who fall under the following categories: aged dependent relative, remaining relative, or carer. In each case, you must be closely related to and sponsored by an Australian citizen or permanent resident. Carer To be eligible for an Australian visa as a remaining relative, you must: be sponsored by a relative suffering from serious medical conditions which prevent them from performing practical functions required as part of their daily life, and be willing to provide significant and continuing assistance to your sponsor which cannot be obtained from any other relative or public services such as hospitals.
